In what might appear to be a shock statement to many from Piers Morgan who, in recent years, has been a vocal supporter of Boris Johnson, Donald Trump and Brexit, has suggested we should change the way we view immigrant workers after the Covid-19 crisis calms down.
For those of us who have been campaigning on this for years, it’s a welcome statement from a man who has often sided with those demonising immigrant workers and their role in our society.
It indicates a shift in the seas that many on social media have been vocalising, and interestingly amongst the Brexit supporting, right wing types this has been a real focus for online discussions.
Morgan sums up the need to recognise the great contributions immigrant workers make every day in the UK perfectly, so let’s hope he continues to think this way and carries the torch forward for our immigrant workers for years to come. We owe them a debt of gratitude for their selflessness during this crisis, and so much more.
